| 范文 | 王雅琼 【Abstract】 With the increase of international conference and other international activities， the demand for interpreter also has a big growth. As a kind of brainwork with high intensity and high challenge， the success of the interpreting mainly depends on the degree of preparation before translation. It would be helpful to remove the emotion of nervous generated from the interpreter， and remit the mental stress during the interpreting. In this way that the interpreter could complete the interpreting task calmly and spaciously. Three points should be paid attention to before the interpreting. 【Key Words】 conference interpreting preparations interpreter The media begin to show great interest to the activities with the interpreter， and the public also pay high attention to the interpreter recently. However， people hardly imagine the stage of complicated preparation. Long time need to be prepared though the few hours of interpreting seemed like simple and short. Therefore， preparation is both an important links and the necessary basic skill. Introduction of some preparations are as follows： 1. Be familiar with the theme of the interpreting The interpreting areas which the interpreter need to handle is multifarious， they include technology， business， economic， politics， judicial， arts and so on. Just take “technology” as an instance， it also includes many aspects—biotechnology， microelectronics technology，space technology and new energy and so on. With the high development of science and technology， news things， new inventions and new terminologies emerged in endlessly. All of these made great challenges for the interpreter. After taking the interpreting task， interpreter should be familiar with the theme of the interpreting in time. The interpreter could ask for the related materials， such as the introduction of the company or the meeting， the schedules and the related knowledge of products. Meanwhile， interpreter could search for the internet about related information through the Internet by themselves. 2. Preparation of terminology The international conference is usually the new development trends of some field. Therere amounts of new terminologies emerged from the meetings. Of course， it is impossible for interpreter that they can master the professional knowledge like the experts. And there is no necessary to do that. It is enough to know the terminology and words which could be understood and expressed by the conventioneer. Interpreter could build his / her own “database of terminology”， which could do the updated after every interpreting task. In this way that the interpreter could do the memory strengthen based on the usual accumulation during the limited time. There are some Abbreviations could for general use. This kind of terminology also should be remembered clearly that the interpreter could response quickly at the conference. Such as GDP （Gross Domestic Product）， IMF （International Monetary Fund）， ISO （International Standards Organization） and so on. 3. Knowing the service object The service objects of interpreting usually include spokesman， honored guest and audience. The audience of international conference is usually the insiders. The international conference is the window that they grasp the recent news of some certain industry， it is necessary for the interpreter to pay attention to the accuracy of terminology. For the spokesman and honored guest， interpreter should acquire the information about their name， sex， post， title， service institution and nationality and so on. It would be better for the interpreter to ask for their business card or search for their records and service institution. It is a good way to reduce the pressure of live interpreting， especially the embarrass of making mistakes in the chaos. Besides， interpreter should be familiar with the accent of spokesman as soon as possible. The represen- tatives who join the international conference usually come from various different countries. All in all， preparation is a necessary stage for the conference interpreting. The interpreter not only need to do the accumulations in the usual time， but also need to make efforts at the last moment， only in this way that could promise the interpreter have a good performance during the interpreting.
